PUNJAB CM FELICITATES PEOPLE ON ID-UL-FITR

CHANDIGARH SEPTEMBER 10:

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today extended his

warm greetings to all the Punjabis especially the Muslim brethren on the

eve of Id-ul-Fitr.

In a message, Mr. Badal said that the festival marks the culmination

of the holy month of Ramzan and brings to the fore the noble instincts in

people. Id-ul-Fitr evokes feelings of brotherhood, compassion and sharing

in all and strengthens the pluralistic bonds of our composite society.

The Chief Minister appealed the people to celebrate this joyous

festival collectively by rising above parochial considerations of caste,

colour, creed and religion.



PUNJAB CM GREETS PEOPLE ON GANESH CHATURTHI

CHANDIGARH SEPTEMBER 10:

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today felicitated

the people of Punjab on the sacred occasion of 'Ganesh Chaturthi'.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that Ganesh Chaturthi, the great

Ganesha festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha which

binds the people in oneness, reaffirms the secular traditions of our nation and

celebrates the spirit of brotherhood and harmony.

Wishing joy, peace and prosperity to all Punjabis on this occasion, Mr.

Badal called upon them to celebrate this festival with religious fervor by

rising above petty considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion.



SUKHBIR GREETS PEOPLE ON THE EVE OF EID-UL-FITR

Chandigarh, September 10: Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief

Minister Punjab today greeted the people on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Felicitating the people on the eve of holy festival, Mr. Badal said

that Eid-ul-Fitr brings joy and happiness to the people on the culmination

of the month of holy Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and charity.

Calling upon to people to celebrate this festival collectively in the true

spirit of Punjabiat , Mr. Badal wished that celebrations would inspire people

to follow the path of love and compassion besides strengthening mutual

goodwill.

SHARAD PAWAR FOR MUTUAL COOPERATION INDIA AND BRAZIL IN AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

Brasilia (Brazil), September 10: Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal Deputy
Chief Minister Punjab today offered the services of Punjab
farmers to develop agriculture sector in Brazil in response to the
invitation of Mr. Gustavo Ahrends, CEO of ‘Vision Brazil’ .The
Brazil delegation had earlier invited Punjab farmers to avail
the opportunity of converting low cost non productive scrub
lands available in Brazil into highly productive farm lands.

Mr. Badal who is visiting Brazil these days as part of a
delegation led by Mr. Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture Minister to
explore possibilities of mutual cooperation. Mr. Badal said that the
farmers of Punjab were ready to come to Brazil to contribute
further in development of agriculture provided suitable and
enabling environment, in terms of availability of land on long term
lease, was created by the Brazilians. The Deputy Chief Minister
said that enterprising Punjab farmers have made India self
sufficient on the front of food security by making Green
Revolution is success story. They had scripted a new history by
converting marshy barren land of Tarai region in India into
productive lands. They have replicated these success stories in
Australia, Canada, USA and other parts of the World by there
sheer hard work and ‘never say die’ attitude.

Mr. Badal emphasized that the farmers of Punjab who are
known around the globe for their hard work were ready to accept
the challenge to work in association with Brazil. Earlier through
a detailed presentation Mr. Badal explained how farmers from

Punjab were contributing to the food security of India. Mr. Sukhbir
Singh Badal also appreciated the work done by Brazil in the field
of agriculture.

Through a presentation ‘Vision Brazil’ the CEO of Vision
Brazil Mr. Gustavo Ahrends intimated that Brazil is gifted with
huge agricultural lands, adequate rainfall, water resources and
stable temperature and weather conditions. He underlined that
there is an opportunity to convert low cost non productive scrub
lands available in Brazil into highly productive farm lands. He
invited the farmers of India and particularly from Punjab to come
and invest in these lands so as to create food security in the world.
He complimented the hard working farmers of India and Punjab
who work in adverse conditions to make India a food surplus state
and extended a hand to them to avail the opportunities available in
Brazil.

Earliar in another presentation made by the CEO of UNICA
(Brazilian Sugar Cane industry association) before the Indian
delegation the CEO explained how Brazil has become number one
country in production and export of Sugar, He also explained how
the Brazilian sugar industry is utilizing sugar to produce ethanol
to discount the fuel cost in Brazil. He explained that in Brazil
every automobile fuel available has 25% ethanol in it. He also
highlighted the fact about introduction of flexi-fuel (100% ethanol)
in the market to which the car manufacturers have responded
with production of flexi-fuel cars. This according to UNICA, has
become possible by achieving a high yield in sugarcane through
introduction of high yielding sugarcane varieties and highly
mechanized farming.

While addressing the meeting Mr. Pawar outlined that there
is a scope for cooperation between the two countries in the field of
production of sugarcane and soya, improvement of cattle breeds
and poultry products. This high level delegation had a series of
meetings with the delegations from the Ministry of Agriculture,

Brazil and leading entrepreneurs in field of agriculture, horticulture
and animal husbandry. Various organizations of Brazil made
presentations to the Indian delegation on the present status of
agriculture in Brazil and on the opportunities in technology and
investment in Brazil agri-buisness.

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today approved the project of Rs.31.08 crore for water supply

SEWERAGE IN RAJPURA TOWN

CHANDIGARH Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today approved
the project of Rs.31.08 crore for water supply, sewerage, sewage
treatment plant and bricklining of the rain water drains in Rajpura town.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of Pepsu Township
Development Board held here at Chief Minister's residence under the
chairmanship Mr. Badal this evening.

The Chief Minister also gave approval to the budget estimates
of Rs.22.85 crore for the financial year 2010-11, out of which Rs.21.65
crore would be exclusively spent on the execution of various development
works. He also approved the revised budget estimates to the tune
of Rs. 13.14 crore for the 2009-10, of which Rs.8.36 crore had
already been spent on various ongoing development works till date.

The Chief Minister also gave nod to allot five acre land in addition
to the 13 acres for the establishment of multi-disciplinary academy at
Rajpura and directed the Revenue Department to immediately hand over
the land to the Technical Education department on lease basis. He also
asked the Punjab Health Systems Corporation to expedite the installation
of latest medical equipment and infrastructure at the newly constructed
government hospital in Tripari, Patiala so that it could made operational at
the earliest. Mr. Badal also asked the Board to prioritize its development
works like drinking water and sewerage should be given preference over
other works. The Chief Minister also directed the Deputy Commissioner
Patiala to personally monitor the progress of Basera project to rehabilitate
the slum dwellers in Rajpura so that the project could be completed at the
earliest without any further delay.

Meanwhile, the Special Secretary Revenue-cum-Administrator of
the board Mr. NK Wadhawn assured the Chief Minister that all the ongoing
development projects relating to the water supply, sewerage, roads, street
lighting and sewage treatment plant would be completed positively by Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included
Chief Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Rajpura Raj Khurana, Financial
Commissioner Revenue Mrs. Romila Dubey, Financial Commissioner
Forest Mr. RC Nayyar, Principal Secretary Technical Education Mr. Suresh
Kumar, Secretary PWD (B&R) Mr. SK Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner
Patiala Mr. Dipinder Singh and MD PHSC Ms. Raji Srivastva.
